A recognised scientist and engineer in the area of optimal design and engineering of complex structural systems. Author of more than 350 papers and teaching guidelines, 4 monographs and 13 certificates of invention. Author of a CIS-countries related chapter in an international guide on design of buildings in regions with high seismic activity. The guide was published in the USA (1994). Multiple on-the-job trainings in universities and architectural and building firms in Britain, the US, Italy and other countries.

Vladimir Alekhin is a member of the executive committee Software in Construction and Architecture for the Russian Academy of Architecture and Construction Sciences. He is also a member of the New York Academy of Sciences.
