In 1964 he graduated from the Novosibirsk Institute of Civil Engineering, majoring in "Industrial and Civil Engineering".
In 1965 he was hired by the Novosibirsk Institute of Civil Engineering as an assistant of the department of structural mechanics. In 1972 he graduated from the graduate school at the department with the successful defense of the candidate's thesis. In 1973 he received academic rank of assistant professor. From 1987 to 1990 he worked as a senior scientific researcher in the department of structural mechanics on the completion of his doctoral thesis, which he successfully defended in 1990 with the degree of Doctor in Engineering. In 1991 he was elected Head of the Department of structural mechanics, received the title of professor, and now he works as Head of the Department of structural mechanics of The Novosibirsk State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering (SIBSTRIN).
