András Dobos was born and raised in Hungary, studied architecture there and in Spain.
He started his professional life working at Zoboki Demeter Design Associates on public building projects as Palace of Arts Budapest philharmonics hall, and the new headquarter building for Richter.
Then he worked at EEA Moscow on projects around Russia eg. at Kazan, Surgut and the capital itself. Diverse topics from the Red October Factory area revitalization to the Tatarstan National Library.
He joined Linda Erdélyi, Balázs Korényi and Virág Gáspár Anna in 2007 and they founded LAB5 architects together. The company is committed to create innovative and sometimes experimental design in the fields of architecture, urbanism, product and interior design.
Their motto is working on the both side of the wall stands out for a multidisciplinary way of creating solutions in the space. It doesn’t stop at the questions of architecture as in functional, technological or artistic relations, but the design is always integrated into the broad environment including green and artificial elements, historical and futuristic thinking. They are also “healers” of buildings. Keeping and reusing existing houses doesn’t only mean saving ecological footprint but also opens interesting philosophical discussions.
