The department is actively involved in the development of a regulatory system for the design and construction of buildings and facilities.
The staff of the department represent MGSU in the Steel Construction Development Association improving design solutions of steel frames for multi-floor buildings.
Currently, the department employs 6 professors, 10 associate professors, 3 senior lecturers, and 2 assistants. There are 6 students pursuing post-graduate studies.
During the department’s life, its members have published more than 25 textbooks for higher educational establishments, more than 40 monographs, and more than 30 tutorials and trained more than 250 candidates of engineering. In the 1980s, the department’s staff included up to 37 people. In the 1990s, the faculty of the department was significantly reduced and amounted to 25 full-time specialists
