A Musical Center in Paris: A Steel Sail, a Laced Wooden Case and a Roof Garden
The cultural center Cite Musicale project is designed by a Japanese architect Shigeru Ban, together with Jean de Gastines Architectes.
Cite Musicale includes two concert halls – for 6,000 and for 1,150 seats, as well as classes, training rooms, recording studios, backstage changing rooms and management facilities. One of specific features of this project is a hall in the form of a nest, which is “enveloped” in a wooden frame and located over a swimming pool. On the outside of the building, there is a 50 meter high steel structure resembling a sail, with 1,000 square meters of solar photovoltaic cells programmed to turn round after the sun.
Intricately shaped, steel structures for the roof supporting a garden, were designed by Incide Engineering (Italy). At 100+ Forum Russia, Jianluca Valerini, general director of the company, will tell in detail about the project implementation, as well as about the project of Paris Orly Airport extension, including the construction of a new 75,000 sq.m. terminal.
