Background

1960, University of Belgrade, Diploma in the field of transport communication and traffic management.

1965-66 University of California, PhD: Transport Communication and Design.

Dr. Vuchik has been working at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, since 1967 and is its Professor Emeritus in the field of transportation system design. His research on urban transport systems, planning and principles of traffic flows are reflected in the books "Trilogy of Transit", which have been translated into several languages.

He has been a consultant to the U.S. Department of Transportation, the cities of Belgrade, Beijing, Lima, Naples, Perth, Philadelphia, Rome, Singapore, and the transit agencies BART, WMATA, NYCT, SEPTA, TTC, Moscow Metro, and many others.

Professor Vuchik retired in 2010. In 2011, he received an honorary doctorate from CNAM University in Paris, and in 2014 from the University of Waterloo in Canada.

In 1982, he received Germany's first Lechner Medal, and in 2014, the American Association of Public Transportation awarded him the Lifetime Achievement Award.

He is a foreign member of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, as well as the Russian Academy of Architecture and Building Sciences.
