Degree in Civil Engineering (1998) from the University of Cantabria (Santander, Spain).
PhD degree (2003) in Civil Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (Barcelona, Spain).
Jose TURMO is a professor at the School of Civil Engineering in Barcelona (Spain), where he teaches design. His area of expertise is concrete bridges and structures. He is engaged in research on the structural behavior of external stressed reinforced concrete bridges, the use of high-performance concrete, the shear strength of concrete structures, the dynamics of cable suspension bridges, calculations for the strength of bridge structures, structural maintenance or modernization of structures, as well as improving sanitary and environmental problems during bridge construction.
He has conducted several scientific studies as a visiting lecturer at the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (2005), a Fulbright Fellow at the University of California, San Diego, USA (2006), a visiting professor at Kwang Hua, (2010), a leading foreign expert at the Department of Bridge Engineering, Tongji University, Shanghai (2014-2016 years).
He is the author of about forty scientific documents and 70 scientific reports. He is an international expert at CTI (Quality Assurance Agency for Engineering Schools in France), as well as a member of ACHE, IABSE and IABMAS.
