
Takaharu Tezuka
Background
Takaharu Tezuka was born in Tokyo in 1964. He studied architecture at the Musashi Institute of Technology and the University of Pennsylvania. Then he worked for 4 years in London in partnership with Richard Rodgers.
In 1994, together with his wife, Yui Tezuka founded Tezuka Architects in Tokyo.
The bureau's work is distinguished by its attention to people, their activities in buildings and relationships, as can be seen in the projects of schools, office buildings and hospitals.
Since 2009, Takaharu Tezuka is also a professor at Tokyo City University.
Many of his works have received major international awards, including:
- The Best of All, OECD/CELE – collection of exemplary educational institutions (2011, Fuji Kindergarten),
- Japan Federation of Construction Contractors BCS Award (2018, Sora-no-Mori Clinic);
- International Award of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada RAIC 2017 (Fuji Kindergarten);
- The World Architecture Festival 2018 WAF, the winner in the category of completed buildings (Muku Kindergarten) and many others.
