Background

After studying design and architecture in Portugal, Joao Silva graduated from the Polytechnic University of Milan (2000). During his professional career, he gained experience in a wide variety of fields: from design and retail, to multifunctional and residential projects, offices, museums and public spaces, and participated in numerous design competitions.

Joao Silva joined Lissoni Architettura in 2015.

He coordinates the department of architectural competitions and the development of project concepts around the world, such as "NYC Aquatrium" (competition for the development of the embankment concept in 2016), "Language Symphony" (competition for the concept of the Museum of Languages in London, 2018), the world-famous project "High Lines" (creation of a new urban way within the framework of Metals in construction Design Challenge 2019).
