Sang-Dae Kim
Background
Dr. Sang-Dae Kim holds the position of Professor at the Faculty of Civil, Environmental and Architectural Design at Korea University. He is also a professor at the Department of Metal Structures, established by POSCO to promote research in the field of structural steel in construction.
After defending his doctoral thesis on the design and calculation of building structures at the University of Illinois (Chicago) in 1988, he began his teaching career at Korea University, where he teaches several subjects, including structural analysis and design of metal structures, dynamics of structures, seismic analysis and design and analysis of high-rise buildings. He was Chairman of the organizing Committee of the CTBUH Conference in Seoul 2004, held in October 2004. In 2008, he founded the Korean division of the CTBUH, K-CTBUH. Dr. Kim is the editor of the column in the Journal of Architecture and Structural Engineering of Asian Countries (JAABE), jointly published by Korea, Japan and China. In addition, he was the Chairman of the International Symposium on Metal Structures organized by the Korean Society of Metal Structures in Seoul in November 2006. He was also the editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Metal Structures (IJOSS), as well as the vice President of the Korean Society of Metal Structures in 2001-2002.
