After graduating from Khabarovsk Polytechnic Institute in 1981, he worked as a lecturer at the Department of Building Structures of the same Institute until 1985.
From 1986 to 1989, he was a postgraduate student at the V.A. Kucherenko Central Research Institute.
Since 1990 In 2000, he worked his way up from a junior researcher to head of the laboratory of wooden structures at TSNIIEPselstroy.
