
Mark Hemel
Background
Mark Hemel studied at Delft University of Technology and the School of the Architectural Association in London. He has received several scholarships from the Netherlands Foundation for Visual Arts, Design and Architecture to conduct research in Africa and Asia.
For more than 20 years, he has been teaching at the School of the Architectural Association in London, as well as at the Universities of Hong Kong, Sweden, Delft and Eindhoven.
His company Information Based Architecture (IBA) was founded in London in 1998 as a result of a partnership between architects Mark Hemel and Barbara Kuit. IBA specializes in elegant complexity.
Using the latest technologies, the company challenges traditional thinking and strives to use new opportunities to fill cities with conceptually interesting and well-thought-out environmentally responsible architecture.
