
Yangsun Ma
Background
Graduated from Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture. In 2002, he received a Master's degree in architecture from Yale University.
Before starting his own company, the young designer worked with the studios of Zaha Hadid Architects in London and Eisenman Architects in New York, and also engaged in teaching.
Ma Yansong founded his architectural studio MAD Architects in 2004.
In 2010, Ma Yansong was elected an honorary member of the British Royal Institute of Architects. In 2014, he was included in the list of "Young Global Leaders" of the World Economic Forum. In the same year, he was also included by the famous American magazine Fast Company in the hundred most creative businessmen of 2014. Ma Yansong is the first Chinese architect to receive such recognition.
MAD Architects Studio, which employs more than 100 architects, has become one of the ten most creative companies in China. Under the leadership of Ma Yansong, MAD Architects has developed a number of original projects, including the George Lucas Museum of Narrative Art in Chicago, the Absolute Towers ("Marilyn Monroe Towers") in the Canadian city of Mississauga, the Ordos Museum, a multifunctional complex on the outskirts of Beijing's Chaoyang Park, the Hutong Bubble 32 facility in Chinese the capital.
He is also a professor at the Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture.
