Background

Yunko Kirimoto was born in Japan in 1970, and graduated from Kyoto Seika University in 1992 with a degree in Architecture. Her dissertation was awarded the Golden Thesis Award by the Japanese Institute of Architects (JIA). 

She has collaborated with several architects, including Shin Takamatsu, Kazuyo Shojima and Massimiliano Fuchsasa.

In 2002, together with Massimo Alvisi, she founded the Alvisi Kirimoto bureau in Rome.

Yunko Kirimoto's cultural identity is evident in her attention to detail, strict design and minimalist approach. She conducts many projects in parallel, mainly in the fields of industrial design and interior design. These include the Whittle School & Studios in Nanjing and Shanghai in collaboration with the Renzo Pianos Building Workshop, as well as the Folding Layers furniture design project.
