
Jean Pistr
Background
In 1974, Jean PISTRE graduated from the National Higher School of Fine Arts (PU1) with a degree in Architecture. As a student, he won the first prize at the New Architecture competition for a cardboard dwelling project. In 1980, together with Denis VALOD, he founded the architectural firm VALOD and PISTRE. Among the early projects developed by the company were the Museum of Modern Art in Bordeaux and the steel mill of the Linen Company, an industrial project in the same city. In 1988, he was awarded the silver medal of the Academy of Architecture, and in 1990, the gold-plated silver incentive medal, awarded on behalf of the national industry. The project of the L'Oréal plant was awarded the "silver square" in 1992, and in 1993 received the prize for innovative technologies in QuaternarioAward architecture. In 1997, Jean PISTRE was awarded the badge of the Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters, and after being awarded the grand silver medal of the Academy of Architecture for career achievements in 1999, he, along with Denis VALOD, became a member of the Academy of Architecture in 2001. In 2011 Jean Pistre was appointed chairman of the Skolkovo City Council, a project to create an innograd near Moscow.
