Background

From 1973 to 1992, Viguier worked in collaboration with architect Jean-Francois Jodry.

In 1981 and 1983, respectively, Viguier won first prize in the competition for the reconstruction of the Bastille Opera House (Paris) and shared first place in the competition for the design of the office complex "Heart of Defense". In 1986, together with Alain Provo, Patrick Berger and Gilles Clement, Viguier won the competition for the construction of the Andre Citroen Park in Paris (the facility was under construction for 6 years – from 1986 to 1992), and then won the competition for the construction of the French pavilion at the WorldExpo-92 exhibition in Seville (Spain).

Viguier founded his own architectural firm Jean-Paul Viguier et Associés, Architecture et Urbanisme in 1992. His iconic objects are the headquarters of France Télévisions in Paris, the largest office complex in Europe, the Heart of Defense, and the Museum of Art in San Antonio (Texas, USA). The staff of the Viguier workshop are working on projects in Europe, the USA, and Africa, demonstrating a wide range of spatial approaches – from urban zoning (Paris, Brussels) to furniture design for public and private needs.

Viguier focuses on high–rise buildings such as the Sofitel Chicago Water Tower hotel complex in Chicago, the headquarters of MarocTelecom in Rabat (Morocco), the Heart of Defense office complexes and the Majunga Tower in the La Defense business district (Paris).
