Shamir Gumra

Background

Prior to joining BRE, Shamir held the positions of Chief Consultant at Responsible Solutions and Head of Sustainability at Aggregate Industries.

From August 2016 to March 2018, Shamir led the BRE Center for Sustainable Products. Shamir has extensive experience in the field of sustainable construction, and under his leadership, the BRE Global BES 6002 Sustainable Work Standard was developed. It is a way for organizations to evaluate and eliminate modern slavery in their supply chains.

Since April 2018, Dr. Shamir Gumra has been the Director of BREEAM at BRE.

Responsible for the BREEAM family of standards, including new construction, renovation, CEEQUAL, and Homequalitymark in all global markets. More than 2.2 million facilities are registered in the BREEAM standard family, and more than 600,000 facilities have already been certified. BREEAM is used in more than 70 countries around the world and represents an original scheme for assessing sustainability and environmental friendliness.

He is also a member of the Board of Directors and co-founder of the School of Supply Sustainability, a researcher at the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment.
