Background

Vicente Guayart is a Spanish urbanist, chief architect of Barcelona in 2011-2015. Co-founder of the Institute of Contemporary Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC), head of the Prototyping Laboratory of the Cities of the Future  The Sukhov Lab and the international Master's program "City and Technology: Prototyping the Cities of the Future" of the Higher School of Urban Studies of the National Research University of Higher School of Economics (Moscow).

Author of the books "Geology or a self-sufficient city" and "Self-sufficient City", co-author of the Dictionary of Modern Architecture Metropolis. Vicente Guayart's designs have been exhibited at the Venice Biennale, the Museum of Modern Art and the American Architectural Institute in Washington. Vicente Guayart was one of the first to explore and take into account the relationship between architecture, nature and technology when creating new models of urban development in the information society.
