
Erez Ella
Background
He studied architecture at Tel Aviv University, as well as at Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands.
Prior to founding the HQ Architects headquarters in Tel Aviv in 2008, Ella worked for several years as an employee and partner of two architectural firms: OMA (1999 and 2005) and REX (2006-2008). At REX, he was one of the leaders of projects such as the Museum Plaza in Louisville, at OMA he worked as the architect of the project for the Television Cultural Center of China Central Television (TVCC) in Beijing and the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, together with his former partner, he designed the Wiley Theater in Dallas.
From Tel Aviv, Erez heads the design work of HQ Architects not only in Israel, but also around the world, varying in scale and program.
Erez was one of the curators of the Israeli pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale 2012 and is the co-editor of an architectural book titled "Aircraft Carrier - American Ideas and Israel Architectures after 1973" (Hajte Cantz, 2012).
In 2011, Erez founded and still heads the research department "Mechanism of Design and Urbanism" at the Bezalel School of Architecture. He lectures a lot in Israel and abroad.
Erez Ella was named "The Most Promising Architect under the age of 40" by Wallpaper Magazine and "The Most Promising Specialist under the Age of 40" in Israel by Marker magazine.
