He graduated from the Lomonosov Moscow Institute of Fine Chemical Technology.

He holds the position of Director of the Institute of Integrated Safety in Construction, Head of the Department of Integrated Safety in Construction at the National Research University of Moscow State University, and is also a Doctor of Technical Sciences.

He is a full academician of the International Academy of Environmental Sciences and Life Safety, editor-in-chief of the journal "Fire and Explosion Safety".

He has trained three candidates of sciences as a supervisor, authored and co-authored more than 200 scientific publications, three monographs, as well as a number of educational publications.

His research interests include the fire hazard of materials, extinguishing agents, and fire resistance of building structures.
