Professor of Geotechnical Engineering at the University of Pisa. Since 2012, he has been a member of the International Academic Council in the Field of Civil and Environmental Engineering (University of Florence, University of Pisa and University of Braunschweig).

Director of the Master's Degree course "Safety Management and Risk Assessment of the Work Environment" at the University of Pisa,

Secretary General of the EUCEET Association since 2019.

Author of 201 scientific publications.

Specializes in the characteristics of geotechnical objects, geotechnical seismic engineering, laboratory and field tests, slope stability and retaining structures.

He has been a certified engineer since 1976.

Among the most significant research projects:

• Geotechnical analysis of the stability of historical structures (1998, with the support of the Italian Ministry of Education);
• Stability analysis in seismic areas: geological and geotechnical characteristics of natural slopes (2005).

Today, Diego Lo Presti is a member of the working group on seismic microdistricting under the Government of Italy, as well as many other technical organizations and councils.
