
Boris Serkov
Background
Boris Borisovich Serkov, Honored Worker of Higher Education of the Russian Federation, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Academician of the National Academy of Fire Safety Sciences, Chairman of the Dissertation Council D 205.002.02 of the Academy of GPS of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia.
Born on December 8, 1941 in Pavlodar (former Kazakh SSR).
- In 1964 he graduated from Tomsk State University with a degree in Ballistics, and in 1968 he completed postgraduate studies at this university with a degree in Gas Dynamics and Physics of gorenje and Explosion.
- In 1965-1968, he interned at the Ignition and Thermal Explosion Laboratory of the Institute of Chemical Physics of the USSR Academy of Sciences under the supervision of Academician Merzhanov A.G.
- In 1968-1975, he worked as a research engineer at one of the factories near Moscow, studied the problem of fire and explosion safety in the field of aviation and cosmonautics, and for the first time in Russian practice developed an integrated approach to the scientific justification and practical solution to the problem of ensuring fire and explosion safety of individual life support systems for pilots and astronauts. He defended his PhD thesis on this topic in 1975. He was the initiator and active participant in the creation of fireproof material for the manufacture of flight clothing for Soviet cosmonauts participating in the Soviet-American flight under the Soyuz-Apollo program.
- Since 1976, he has been teaching at the GPS Academy. He is a leading lecturer in the section "Building materials and their behavior in fire conditions" of the discipline "Buildings, structures and their stability in case of fire".
He has more than 180 scientific publications and 6 inventions. Co-author of 1 monograph (Demekhin V.N., Lukinsky V.V., Serkov B.B. "Fire hazard and behavior of building materials in fire conditions", St. Petersburg: Koveks Publishing House, 2002, 2 textbooks (Demekhin V.N., Mosalkov I.L., Plyusnina G.F., Serkov B.B., Frolov A.Yu., Shurin E.T. "Buildings, structures and their resistance to fire", Moscow: "Special equipment", 2002, Demekhin V.N., Serkov B.B. "Behavior of building materials in fire conditions", St. Petersburg: Koveks Publishing House, 2004.) and over 20 textbooks (Standard training programs, laboratory workshops, guidelines for performing various training exercises).
Under his leadership, a number of applicants from Russia, countries of the near and far abroad defended their PhD theses.
In 2001, he defended his doctoral thesis on the topic "Fire hazard of polymer materials, reduction of flammability and rationing of their fire-safe use in construction." In 2001, he was awarded the academic title of professor.
At the same time, he is the deputy head of the Certification Body for products in the field of fire safety. Member of the licensing and accreditation commissions of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia.
He is the chairman of the Dissertation Council D.205.002.02 of the Academy of GPS of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, as well as a member of the dissertation Council. Volgograd University of Architecture and Civil Engineering, member of the editorial Board of the scientific and technical journal "Fire and Explosion Safety".
The publishing house "Marcus. Who's Who" (USA) published a biography of B.B. Serkov in the 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th editions of the encyclopedic reference book "Who's Who in Science and Technology", as a man who has achieved significant success in his field of activity and made a significant contribution to the improvement of modern society.
- In 2004, a short biography of B.B. Serkov was published in the encyclopedia "The Best People of Russia".
- In October 2006, B.B. Serkov was awarded the honorary title of "Honored Worker of Higher Education of the Russian Federation" for his outstanding achievements in scientific and pedagogical activities.
Research interests: fire-technical properties of materials, methodology of fire tests, creation of materials of reduced fire danger. He is a member of the Russian Association "Pozh. Science". Maintains close business contacts with foreign colleagues. Participant of many international symposiums and conferences. He is a member of the International Association for Science and Fire Safety (IAFSS), actively participates in the Forum for International Cooperation in Fire Research (FICFR) and the International Construction Union (CIB).
He was awarded State awards, including the Medal of the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, II degree.
