A modern city is a unique multidimensional space of concentration and intersection of all directions of technological and social progress. However, the actual evolution of traditional forms and functions of cities in accordance with changing cultural models and challenges of civilization today is not adequate to either the essence or the pace of the formation of a new reality.
To effectively design the future and preserve the human value system and identity, it is necessary to plan and manage the transformation of the present based on an infrastructure meta-model that combines the results, effects and culture of the third, fourth and next fifth industrial revolutions at the levels of systems, complexes and civilization as a whole.
The "candidate" for the responsible position of such a universal "infrastructure" is the "immersive environment of creation" – a promising understanding of the still "vague" and formally undefined concept of "smart city" – "smart city 5.0".
As part of Professor Andrey Volkov's open lecture "The City with a PhD", the concept of "smart City 5.0/Type C" will be presented in an accessible way to a wide audience, fundamentally expanding modern and justifying future practices of strategic planning, digital transformation and integrated design of automatic, intelligent and human-complementary contours of agglomerations.
