How should a modern city develop – in width or in height? What is the most appropriate ratio of its built-up areas (of different storeys), as well as parks, public areas, etc.? Architects and urbanists have been thinking about this problem for more than a century.
In the homeland of skyscrapers, the USA, there were several concepts that were revolutionary for their time: "Beautiful City", "Garden City", "Radiant City". They were considering how to "fit" high-rise buildings into the existing urban fabric.
At the session "Innovative approaches to creating an "ideal city", developers, architects and government agencies will try to create their own model of an "Ideal City" that is comfortable for residents and easy to manage.
