For the first time, a delegation of Bangkok city planners will come to Yekaterinburg
September 24-26, 2014 Yekaterinburg will be visited for the first time by a representative delegation of officials and urban planners from one of the main financial and high–rise capitals of the world, Bangkok (Thailand). The official visit will take place as part of the landmark international event in the field of high-rise construction, the 100+ Forum Russia, which will be held in Yekaterinburg at the end of this month.
The delegation includes the Deputy Governor of Bangkok, the Governor's Adviser, the Deputy Director General of the Public Works Department of the Administration, the Director of the Building Control Department, an architect and two civil engineers. The organizing committee of the 100+ Forum Russia hopes that the visit of these honored guests will lead to profitable contracts for domestic construction industry specialists.
Bangkok is rightfully considered one of the world's capitals. The active construction of skyscrapers here began back in the 80s and 90s, which was the result of a significant influx of investments. Many multinational corporations have established their headquarters in the capital of Thailand, making it the business and financial center of Asia.
There are 1,106 high-rise buildings in Bangkok today. It ranks 22nd in the top 30 cities with the largest number of skyscrapers. The tallest building in Bangkok (and in Thailand as a whole) is the 85–storey Bayok Tower II. It was built in 1997 and is 304 meters high. The hotel is located from the 22nd to the 74th floor of the building – the tallest in Southeast Asia and the third tallest among the world's hotels.
The second tallest high–rise in Thailand is the State Tower, located in the Bang Rak business district in Bangkok. Its height is 247 meters, and the number of floors is 68 floors. The Sirocco Restaurant, which is the world's highest outdoor restaurant, is located on the 64th floor.
In 2015, another high-rise will appear in Bangkok, which will overtake the previous ones and become the largest in Thailand. This is the MahaNakhon Tower, a tower with 77 floors and a height of 313 meters. It is already believed that this will be the tallest building in Bangkok and one of the most elite properties in Thailand, as it is already listed by real estate experts among the top ten residential skyscrapers in the world.
The building is designed in the form of a tower wrapped with a ribbon of pixels that create the effect of "breaking the wall" and exposing the interior of the building. Protruding glass strips of "pixel" blocks will be used as balconies of hotel rooms and apartments.
