Unique construction on 100+ Forum Russia
The construction and reconstruction of stadiums for the 2018 FIFA World Cup expands the business program of the forum. Presentations, round tables, conferences, thematic sections with the participation of government representatives, managers and specialists of companies involved in the process of preparing for the World Cup are planned.
12 stadiums in the largest cities of Russia are at various stages of reconstruction and construction. In Volgograd, at the site of the future Pobeda sports arena, excavation work began in early March, and excavation work is underway.
The stadium will be built on the banks of the Volga River near Mamayev Kurgan, on the site of the Central Stadium, which was dismantled at the end of 2014.
The exterior of the stadium is an inverted truncated cone with a circular plan with a diameter of about 303 m. The overhangs of the upper parts serve as canopies over the entrances to the stadium and provide additional comfort for the incoming spectators.
The structure will not look bulky due to its delicate facade and unique roof made of cable–stayed structures (high-strength steel ropes with anchors) - this is the first project of its kind in Russia. The overlap of the stands is provided from cable-stayed trusses according to the "bicycle wheel" scheme.
The architectural and planning solutions of the stadium fully comply with the requirements of FIFA and UEFA for the design of football stadiums, while at the same time they are aimed at its effective multifunctional use. After the 2018 FIFA World Cup, the capacity will be reduced to 35,000 seats. The arena will become the home stadium of FC Rotor. It is also supposed to be used for cultural, entertainment and entertainment events, holidays, concerts, exhibitions.
