The third day of the 100+ Forum Russia: Gradsovet, 100 thoughts about Yekaterinburg and the presentation of the Italian embankment project
The final day of the 100+ Forum Russia became a vibrant discussion platform: at specialized sessions, professionals shared their accumulated experience in the field of composite materials in construction, information modeling based on BIM technologies, and discussed fire safety of unique industrial facilities.
A repeat lecture and a master class by Christos Passas, Executive Director of Zaha Hadid Architects, were held in the large conference hall, and again to a full house. Mr. Passas revealed some details of Sberbank's technopark, which is being built according to his project in Skolkovo. The interior and exterior of the technopark, he said, are "united by the idea of ecology and forests," and a "flexible way of organizing space" will be implemented inside the building.
The central event of the third day was a meeting of the Yekaterinburg City Planning Council. Two topics were discussed at the meeting: the reconstruction of Yuzhny Park and the parameters of the terms of reference for holding a competition to improve the park of the XXII Party Congress and the territory located near the Central Stadium of Yekaterinburg. Following the meeting, the submitted project for the reconstruction of the park was adopted with minor amendments. In addition, the details of the terms of reference of the competition, which will be held from October 10 to November 25, 2016, were clarified. The prize fund of the competition will be allocated from the regional budget, said Sergey Schwindt, First Deputy head of the Yekaterinburg City Administration.
Another important topic was the discussion of the architectural heritage of one of Yekaterinburg's districts, Uralmash. The possibility of creating a recreational and tourist complex in the area based on the legendary past of the area was considered. The discussion was attended by an initiative group of residents of the district, who entered into a heated discussion with the developers of the renovation project of Kultury Boulevard, the central street of Uralmash.
In addition, it was within the framework of the 100+ Forum Russia that the presentation of the renovation competition of the historic embankment in the Italian city of Genoa, which is the twin city of Yekaterinburg, was held for the first time. Applications for this competition from architects from all over the world are currently being accepted, the main prize will be 75 thousand euros.
