A hundred-meter dormitory and an energy-efficient school became contenders for the 100+ Awards
The shortlists of the All-Russian Engineering and Architectural Award 100+ Awards this year included 76 projects. In total, the organizing committee received 240 applications from 27 regions of Russia. The most popular nominations were "Best Architectural Solution – Residential building", "Best BIM Building Model", "Best Innovative Development - IT solution" and design–related nominations.
The award will be presented for the fourth time. This year there are 16 nominations, including for the first time for facilities under construction.
Among the shortlisted projects, for example, the first Russian music university, the Rimsky–Korsakov Conservatory in St. Petersburg. For the first time in Russia, during the reconstruction of a cultural heritage site of federal significance in the 19th century, structures made of self-supporting, high-strength aluminum, rather than traditional steel, were used to erect domes. Previously, alloy AD35T1 proved itself in the aircraft industry. This eased the load on the foundation and walls. In addition, the usable area of the building has increased by 700 sq. m.
Another contender for victory is Russia's first bridge with a cable–stayed system, the elements of which are designed and certified in Russia. It is located on the M-12 Vostok highway above Oka and connects the Vladimir and Nizhny Novgorod regions. Other interesting projects are academic buildings and administrative buildings (dormitories) for Bauman Moscow State Technical University, where the height of dormitories reaches one hundred meters, and the private laboratory school Novy Vzglyad, where energy efficiency was increased by 22% and water consumption was reduced by 33% compared to the basic buildings.
Traditionally, the winners will be chosen by leading Russian and foreign specialists in the construction industry, representatives of relevant government and local government bodies. Among them are Rustam Akbiev, Head of the Department of Integrated Urban Planning Security, Chairman of the Scientific and Technical Expert Council of the Central Research Institute of the Ministry of Construction of the Russian Federation, Levan Akopov, Adviser to the Director of the Unified Institute of Spatial Planning of the Russian Federation, Mukhamed Nasser and Alexander Vorozhbitov, co-founders of the Metropolis company, Andrey Gnezdilov, co-founder and first deputy director of the Ostozhenka Architectural Bureau, Daria Listopad, co-founder of the Megabudka Architectural Bureau and many others.
The main purpose of the award, as before, is to encourage specialists and creative teams who have made a significant contribution to the development of architectural and construction science, design, and development of capital construction facilities in Russia.
This year, the results will be announced during the International Construction Week, which will be held in Yekaterinburg from October 1 to October 4.
