Development of bridge construction in Russia: current trends

The Organizing Committee of the 100+ Forum Russia, together with the Institute for Research on Bridges and Other Engineering Structures (IMIDIS), is holding a thematic section on bridge construction at INNOPROM 2016. The event will take place on July 12 from 14.30 to 16.00 at the stand of the Yekaterinburg City Administration.

Urban planners will discuss the main trends in bridge construction, in particular, the significant expansion of the range of structural and architectural forms of bridge structures, new building materials, technologies that significantly reduce construction time, the need for quality control at all stages of the life cycle of bridge structures. The topic will be presented by Alexander Ilyich Vasiliev, Director of Science at the IMIDIS Institute, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor. Alexander Ilyich is a leading specialist in rationing and field studies of bridge structures. He supervised the testing of the largest bridges across the Volga, Dnieper, Kama, Moscow, Neva, Ob, Irtysh and others rivers.

The section will be attended by A.M. Chernetsky, member of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, E.E. Lipovich, Deputy Head of Yekaterinburg for Landscaping, Transport and Ecology, A.A.Belyshev, Deputy Head of the Yekaterinburg City Administration for Capital Construction and land use, as well as leading experts in the field of bridge construction.

The participants of the event will discuss Yekaterinburg's bridges, their role in the transport infrastructure, technical condition and reconstruction. One of the most problematic transport hubs in the city is the interchange at the intersection of Basov Lane and Sibirsky Tract, the "narrow neck" of the city's median high–speed transport ring. Uralgiprotrans specialists, the authors of the interchange project, will propose solutions to increase the interchange's capacity with a total length of 2 km. The cost of its reconstruction is estimated at approximately 5.15 billion rubles. The project documentation was successfully reviewed in 2015, but the construction of the facility has not yet begun. The project for the construction of a bridge along Opalikhinskaya Street and the project for the reconstruction of the Makarovsky Bridge in preparation for the 2018 FIFA World Cup will also be presented. The project is currently undergoing a state examination. The cost of the first stage of reconstruction is estimated at 2.7 billion rubles.

The problems of bridge construction in Russia will be discussed in more detail at the international forum of high-rise and unique construction 100+ ForumRussia, which will be held on October 5-7, 2016 in Yekaterinburg.
