Russia's first 99-meter-high panels and the Palace of the Emperors will compete for the Engineering Oscar
The All-Russian Engineering and Architecture Award 100+ Awards, founded within the framework of the 100+ TechnoBuild forum and exhibition, received 196 applications for participation from 20 cities of the country. One of the most popular was the new nomination "Design of public spaces". Comfortable urban environment and innovative developments in construction IT solutions are also among the leaders.
The award was first held in 2021. Its main goal was to encourage specialists and teams who make a significant contribution to the development of construction science in Russia. At that time, 156 applications were received, and the country's tallest building, the Lakhta Center, won the Grand Prix.
This year, applicants were offered eight nominations. In addition to those already mentioned, these are "The best architectural solution", "The best engineering solution", "The best constructive solution", "The best Green Building facility" and "The best BIM model of a residential building".
Among the objects that qualify for the Engineering Oscar are 33-storey towers with a height of 99 meters, which are being implemented for the first time in Russia in a precast reinforced concrete design (PIK company project, nomination – "The best constructive solution. Residential building"); the Sports building of the Sirius School for Gifted Children, one of the few public buildings built in a nine-point seismic hazard zone; the A.S. Loginov Moscow Clinical Research Center, where technological, planning and engineering solutions differ on each floor, and others.
One of the most unusual contenders for the 100+ Awards was the Alexander Palace in Pushkin, built in 1796. At one time, Alexander I, Nicholas I, Alexander III and Nicholas II lived here. Since 2012, the building has been undergoing restoration, as a result of which it was possible to expand the economic territory, as well as restore 13 interiors. The bureau that handled the work was nominated for the "Best Design of Public Spaces."
The work of the expert council is currently underway, which checks all applicants for compliance with the requirements. The jury will start evaluating the projects in August. As in the previous year, it included recognized Russian and foreign experts in the field of construction, design, architecture and innovative developments. Among them are Vladimir Travush, Chief Designer of GORPROEKT CJSC, Vice President of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, Guy Eames, Chairman of the Council for Environmental Construction of RuGBC, Peter Kudryavtsev, Co–chairman of the Eurasian Branch of the World Urban Parks Association, founder of Citymakers, Igor Shubin, Director of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, Andrey Asadov, General Director of the Architectural bureau ASADOV, Technical Director, Head of Kontur.Externa" and the "Services for enterprises" directions of SKB Kontur Artem Preskaryan and others.
The winners of the award will be announced during the International Construction Forum and the TechnoBuild 100+ Exhibition, which will be held in Yekaterinburg from October 18 to 21, 2022.
