The specifics of the construction of unique bridges will be discussed at the 100+ forum in Yekaterinburg

The business program of the forum includes issues ranging from standards and quality management to specific examples of experimental research, implementation and monitoring of new technologies in bridge construction.

Experts from the Krylov State Scientific Center will share their research experience on the unique 19-kilometer bridge crossing to Crimea. "Thanks to our extensive experimental base, which includes 97 test facilities, many of which have no analogues in the world, we have comprehensively addressed the issues of building a unique facility," said Sergey Solovyov, Deputy head of the Department of Hydroaerodynamics at the Krylov State Scientific Center. "Our specialists conducted studies of the aerodynamic stability of the bridge under the influence of wind, modeled the impact of the vessel on the bridge support in case of an emergency failure of the control system, determined the maximum ice loads on the supports and conducted experimental mathematical modeling of the marine operation for transporting arches from the construction site to the installation site on the main supports."

For the first time, a mock-up of Russia's only Landscape Wind Tunnel, which was used to test the bridge structure, will be demonstrated at the 100+ forum for designers and builders.

Bridge construction is one of the most pressing issues in the development of Russian cities. According to Alexander Vasiliev, Academician of the Russian Academy of Transport, Director of Science at the Institute for Research on Bridges and Other Engineering Structures (IMIDIS), "ultra-large span bridges, transport interchanges and architecture dictate fashion in bridge construction. This is due, on the one hand, to the rapid growth of transport in recent decades, mainly by road, and, on the other, to the expansion of economic integration to a global scale. This required additional development of the transport infrastructure."
