Skyscraper of the northern capital at 100+ Forum Russia
The business program of the 100+ Forum Russia includes a thematic section devoted entirely to the implementation of the Gazprom project in St. Petersburg. Sergey Nikiforov, Chief Engineer of the Lakhta Center, said that the best experts and leading specialists from companies and organizations involved in the design and construction of the multifunctional high-rise complex will be invited as speakers.
As a participant of last year's forum, S. Nikiforov highly appreciated the work of the 100+ Forum Russia: "This is a fairly large-scale event in Russia. High level of organization, relevant topics. I think the forum will be even more successful this year."
The Lakhta Center tower, which claims to be one of the tallest buildings in Russia (its height will be 462 meters), is the tallest building under construction in Europe.
According to experts, each element of the complex is unique. Although the technologies used have been developed in the global practice of high-rise construction, many of them are becoming innovative to one degree or another at the Lakhta Center. Some are the only ones in the world. So, even at the stage of laying the foundation, the Lakhta Center was entered into the Guinness Book of Records. The most powerful bearing element of the foundation, a monolithic reinforced concrete slab, was filled in 49 hours. Almost 20,000 cubic meters of concrete mix and more than 9,000 tons of rebar were continuously laid (about the same amount of metal was required for the construction of the Eiffel Tower).
The very design of the box-shaped foundation is unusual. To ensure the safety and reliability of the building weighing 670,000 tons, this particular structure was chosen on 264 piles with a two-meter diameter, submerged to a depth of 82 meters.
At the design stage, a special system for monitoring and combating ice formation was developed and a completely unique facade maintenance system with an atypical shape. As it moves upward, the skyscraper seems to spin and there are no parallel lines on its facade. In the future, the found technical solutions will replenish the piggy bank of Russian unique technologies and can subsequently be used on new projects both in our country and abroad. In addition, the entire Lakhta Center project is based on the principles of "green building", where great attention is paid to advanced energy-saving technologies.
The Lakhta Center is a multifunctional social and business complex, the core of which will be the headquarters of the Gazprom Group of companies. The total area of buildings and structures will be 400,000 m2. The construction of the complex is planned to be completed by 2018.
