The reward for "evolution"
The General Designer of the Evolution Tower of the Moscow City MMDC, Gorproekt CJSC, was awarded the Grand Prix of one of the most prestigious competitions among the professional architectural community.
"Evolution" was recognized as the best realized project using glass and translucent structures at the IV Russian architectural competition "Glass in Architecture 2015". The competition is organized by the Union of Architects of Russia. Its purpose is to identify the best projects using translucent structures, identify new trends in the use of glass in architecture, and promote the introduction of innovative and energy–efficient solutions.
The Evolution Tower (241 m) is one of the most significant objects of the Gorproject. The tower "rotates" around its axis by 156 degrees. The spiral shape of the skyscraper resembles a DNA molecule: two "ribbons" of opposite facades smoothly wrap and unite in a metal structure above the roof.
The original concept of the Tower facade was highly appreciated by experts. It looks like a single shell of glass curved in a spiral. Today, this stained glass window is the largest cold–rolled facade in the world and can claim to be listed in the Guinness Book of Records.
CJSC Gorproekt is a leading company in the field of general design of residential and public buildings and structures. The Institute has implemented a number of landmark high-rise buildings. Among them are six facilities of the Moscow City Exhibition Center (Eurasia Tower, Federation Tower, etc.), Lakhta Center in St. Petersburg and others.
At the 100+ Forum Russia 2014, the company was represented by chief architect Philip Nikandrov. He made a presentation on "Iconic high-rise architecture" at a panel discussion. This year, Gorproekt will once again participate in the business program of the forum.
