Urban planning trends to be discussed at 100+ Forum Russia
What master plans and development strategies are needed for modern cities, where are the growth points of megacities of the future, and what should be the standards of urban planning – these questions will be answered by leading architects from Russia and the world.
The discussion will take place at two venues at once – in the sections "Urban planning trends of the cities of the future" and "Master plan of the city of the future". Among the speakers are specialists from Italy, Spain, and Germany., Netherlands, USA, Thailand and Russia. The concepts of integrated development of the territories of Cairo, Istanbul, Milan, Sochi, Mexico City, Moscow and other cities of the world will be presented by Federico Parolotto (Italy), Hiroki Matsura (Netherlands), Stefan Jentsch (Germany), Diru Tadani (USA), Anna-Sofia Ehrenfried (Spain), Jose Maria De Cardenas Dominguez-Adam (Spain).
More flexible tools are becoming an alternative to master plans for urban development – strategic master plans for the development of territories, which take into account many additional parameters - a new vision of socio–economic development, the creation of a comfortable urban environment, the possibility of involving local communities in this process, and much more: "Will master plans replace the classic documentation of master plans, what are the new needs cities should be taken into account when developing them and what the urban planning standards of the future will be – these issues will be the subject of discussion by top-class specialists," said Vera Belous, head of the working group of the Organizing Committee of the 100+ Forum Russia.
One of the main topics will be modern urban planning trends – the orientation of the urban environment towards comfort for different target audiences and its potential, which is already being laid at the design stage: "Nowadays it no longer makes sense to discuss architecture as a separate independent activity in the style of a beauty contest. The architecture of our time and the near future must solve several important tasks in the urban environment: to work with mass migration to urban areas, to make buildings environmentally friendly, to work with a large number of existing construction assets and to help ensure that the building and its surrounding area are useful to the city and society," said the CEO of MADMA Urbanism.+Landscape" by Hiroki Matsura.
Experts will also discuss the mechanisms of global change in megacities, the possibilities of strategic work with infrastructure and tools that allow us to model the urban environment: "For us, the main thing in master planning is to ensure the quality of life in the territory, whether it is a new area or the space of a post-Soviet city. We work according to the principles of ecosystem urbanism with a parametric KPI system – we calculate a master plan using artificial intelligence, using about 45 environmental quality parameters. The key ones are compactness and density of buildings, transport, the social sphere, environmental sustainability, as well as, for example, the sufficiency of green spaces, the number of public spaces per person, and so on. New technologies and algorithms create prerequisites for the transition from urban planning to parameterization of residential buildings," says Timur Bogdanenko, Director of the Russian office of CITYTHINKING by EDDEA (CTTK). The Spanish architectural firm has implemented many projects in Latin America, North and Central Africa, Europe and Russia. Within the framework of the section, the architects of the bureau will present a strategy for the development and improvement of the quality of life of local territories.
