Carlos Gomez, architect of wooden–block skyscrapers, travels to Yekaterinburg
Carlos R. Gomez, head of the architectural studio CRG Architecture Consultants, author of a unique project of skyscrapers from shipping containers, will attend the high-rise and unique construction forum in Yekaterinburg in October. The architect plans to participate in the round table on the topic "Innovative architectural solutions in the field of unique construction." The experts will talk about the problems that arise when translating architectural concepts into reality, how to adapt them to Russian conditions, and what role unique buildings play in shaping the urban landscape.
One of the unusual and interesting works of Carlos Gomez is twin towers made of shipping containers. The project to develop one of the most densely populated areas of Mumbai in India has received the unofficial name "Container Scraper". According to the architect's idea, two residential towers with a height of 400 m (278 floors) and 200 m (139 floors) will consist of cargo containers from ships that will be placed on top of each other. More than two thousand containers are needed for construction. The interior layout is designed for studio apartments, half of the container will be enough for each one. And for a full-fledged three-room apartment, you will need to combine three containers.
Carlos Gomez was educated at the Graduate School of Technical Architecture of the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (Barcelona, Spain). Master's Degree in New Developments and Digital Architecture (ADDA) from the Ilisava School of Design (EDS) at Pompeu Fabra University (Barcelona, Spain). Since 2015, he has been a member of the International Association AIA (American Institute of Architects), and is also registered with SAS (Society of Spanish Architects in China).
