Famous German architect and lighting designer to take part in 100+ Forum Russia

Renowned German architect and lighting designer Carsten Winkels, who worked on the Beijing Olympic streetlight and the master plan for lighting the historic center of Dresden, confirmed his participation in the International Forum of High-Rise and Unique Construction in Yekaterinburg.

The forum participants will have a unique opportunity to get acquainted with the history of the creation of a new concept of architectural lighting of Moscow skyscrapers. Built in the 50s of the twentieth century, Stalin's skyscrapers remain dominant to this day, playing an important role in building a recognizable silhouette of the city.

The new lighting concept is based on paintings by Jan Vermeer and the works of famous Russian artists who excelled in the art of light and shadow transmission, such as Mikhail Vrubel, Konstantin Korovin, Ivan Kramskoy, Valentin Serov. Basically, portraits were used, which were thematically, artistically and compositionally associated with each of the high-rise buildings.

The choice of light color was determined by the color palette of the finishing materials. The most appropriate shade of light is selected for the cladding material of each building.

Carsten Winkels applied an unusual color dynamic scenario for different times of the day. In night mode, the main lighting is gradually turned off, leaving only the spires of buildings, the color of which turns into a deep blue, imitating the color of the night sky. By morning, the color of the spires gradually changes from blue to orange-yellow, the color of dawn.
