The results of the competition for the best development concept of Yekaterinburg City: the prize of half a million rubles went to Ulyanovsk

On the second day of the III International Forum of High-Rise and Unique Construction, 100+ Forum Russia awarded the winners of the open competition for the best architectural and artistic concept of the multifunctional urban center Yekaterinburg City.

In May 2016, Yekaterinburg developer UMMC-Holding LLC announced the start of an international competition for the best concept for the development of the Yekaterinburg City quarter with a prize fund of 1 million rubles. A prize of 500 thousand rubles was awarded for the first place, 300 and 200 thousand rubles for the second and third places, respectively.

A total of 43 projects were submitted for the competition. This includes proposals from architects from Belarus, Ukraine, China, France and Japan. The best project was chosen by the jury and Internet users.

The first place was given to the project of the architectural bureau "Prostor" from Ulyanovsk called "Copper Mountain" - it was based on the philosophy and flavor of P.P. Bazhov's fairy tales.

Competitive works were evaluated:

  • Andrey Kozitsyn, General Director of UMMC-Holding LLC;
  • Igor Kudryashkin, Commercial Director of UMMC-Holding LLC;
  • Sergey Yerypalov, Director of Capital Construction and Investments, UMMC-Holding LLC;
  • Arkady Chernetsky, First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Federal Structure, Regional Policy, Local Self-Government and Northern Affairs;
  • Werner Zobek, German architect, engineer, author of the Iset Tower project;
  • Andrey Bokov, President of the Union of Architects of Russia;
  • Vladimir Veniaminov, Deputy Minister of Construction and Infrastructure Development of the Sverdlovsk Region, Chief Architect of the Sverdlovsk Region;
  • Mikhail Vyatkin, Chairman of the Architectural and Urban Planning Council of the Yekaterinburg City Municipality;
  • Alexey Belyshev, Deputy Head of the Yekaterinburg City Administration for Capital Construction and Land Use;
  • Sergey Lekomtsev, coordinator of NOSTRA in the Ural Federal District, President of NP SRO "Guild of Builders of the Urals".

From September 5 to September 30, an online voting for the best project of the contest was held on the Forum 100+ website, which was attended by 4,500 people. The project of the Perm team of authors (number 623109) scored the largest number of votes – 1008.

The third place and a cash prize of 200 thousand rubles were awarded to a team of authors from St. Petersburg with a project number 214206. Architects from Gomel became the second, and their project was presented on the website under the number 714919. The first place and a cash prize of 500 thousand rubles was awarded to the project 721718 of the architectural bureau "Prostor" from Ulyanovsk.
