Barcelona's Chief Architect confirms participation in 100+ Forum Russia

The former chief architect of Barcelona will take part in the 100+ Forum Russia business program. The expert will give an open lecture on "Prototyping future cities." The Spanish architect creates concepts of the cities of the future and strives to realize them in the present. His architectural and urban planning projects are based on the principles of global connectivity and local self-sufficiency based on the use of new information technologies. At the lecture, Vicente Guayart will talk about bold urban solutions that can be implemented tomorrow. And also about how the future of modern cities depends on them and how the urban area can be radically modernized.

Vicente Guayart served as Barcelona's chief architect from 2011 to 2015 and was responsible for developing the city's strategic vision and major development projects.

Since 2016, Vicente Guayart has been the academic director of the international Laboratory for Experimental Urban Design "Shukhov Lab". Higher School of Urban Studies of the National Research University of Higher School of Economics (Moscow) and the international Master's program "Prototyping cities of the Future: City and Technology".

Vicente Guayart is the co-founder of the Institute of Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (2001-2011), where he led such projects as Mediadom (together with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology), Hypercatalunia, and Fablab. Guallart Architects, an architectural firm founded by him, has developed projects for the ports of Fuji and Keelung in Taiwan, the Sociopolis quarter in Valencia, and is currently working on projects of various scales in different countries.

He is the author of the books "Geologics" and "Self-sufficient City", co-author of the Dictionary of Advanced Architecture. His work has been exhibited at the Venice Biennale and at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. The American Institute of Architects organized his solo exhibition in Washington in 2010.
