Yekaterinburg is aiming upward!

In terms of the number of skyscrapers, Yekaterinburg is ahead of all regional cities with a population of one million. According to the index of high–rise buildings, the city is currently in seventh place in Europe, in Russia - in third, but in absolute terms of the height of buildings in the Russian Federation, the capital of the Urals is second only to Moscow.

Currently, 850 buildings with a height of more than 35 m have been built in Yekaterinburg, 40 of them have 25 floors (from 75 m), 4 have 32 floors (from 100 m) and two have about 200 m. The construction of high-rise buildings is certainly a promising area of urban development, many experts in the field are convinced of this. Vyacheslav Trapeznikov, executive director of NP SRO "Guild of Builders of the Urals", executive secretary of the organizing committee of 100 + Forum Russia, claims that the shortage of vacant land in the center leads to its high cost (1 hectare costs about 100 million rubles). It is more profitable for developers to build up.

Today, the tallest building in Yekaterinburg (and in all of Russia, outside the MKAD) is the Vysotsky business center (54 floors, height – 188.3 m). The Iset tower (the starting point of the Yekaterinburg City business district), which will be 209 m high, is already being completed. In 2015, the construction of the second stage of the residential complex "First Nikolaevsky" starts. The main feature of the project is two 61–storey buildings, which claim to be the tallest residential buildings in the European part of Russia.

The services of Ural developers for the construction of high-rise buildings are in demand in other regions. However, many investors are deterred by the imperfection of legislation in the field of high-rise construction. There are still no permanent, approved standards for the design of buildings above 100 meters in our country. Each skyscraper requires the development of its own technical specifications, and then their approval by the Ministry of Construction and Housing of the Russian Federation. The examination of the project documentation is also carried out in Moscow, and not on the spot. Naturally, the length of the approvals makes the process of obtaining a building permit tedious and long for developers.

The 100+ Forum Russia, an international-level conference and exhibition, will be dedicated to solving all these problems. The outcome of the event will be the adoption of a Roadmap for high-rise construction, approved by both the government and the professional community. In addition, the Center of Competence and Information on High-rise Construction will begin its work in Yekaterinburg.
