BIM technologies for construction companies - the beginning of a new digital era of the cities of the future
"Information modeling technologies — the beginning of the era of digital construction" is the main topic of the V International Forum of High—rise and Unique Construction 100+ Forum Russia 2018, which will be held from December 5-7 at the Yekaterinburg-EXPO IEC.
Within the framework of the Forum, well-known Russian and foreign experts will present the most interesting cases implemented using BIM technologies — experts will talk about the experience of building and operating the Empire State Building, Lakhta Center, Akhmat Tower and sports facilities.
"The world is changing every day, and very soon we will have a new era of digital technologies that will allow us to design and create not only individual buildings, but also entire smart cities everywhere. Within the framework of the Forum, we will address the most pressing problems of using BIM technologies in construction and design and try to offer solutions to them," the organizers of the Forum note.
On the first day of the Forum, December 5, a discussion platform dedicated to the application of BIM technologies will open. The main issues will be:
- codes of rules and GOST standards in information modeling in construction;
- practical skills in using foreign and Russian software for information modeling of buildings and structures,
- urban planning design using innovative technologies;
- the expediency of using BIM technologies to calculate the cost of construction by design companies when creating project documentation;
- economic efficiency and the need to introduce digital technologies in the construction of buildings;
- real estate management using digital models.
According to experts, the transition to BIM technologies in the construction sector, despite their high cost, will take place in the coming years: "The question is when we will be able to "describe" existing cities and integrate new designed facilities into this information space for their subsequent accounting analysis. This is not an easy task and it will be a matter of the next 10 to 20 years. Even if individual construction projects are simply being developed using BIM technologies, the entire industry will feel positive changes. Now in About 20% of enterprises in Russia use BIM technologies. This is progress: in 2002, the share of such companies was 1-2%," said Maxim Nechiporenko, Deputy Director of Renga Software.
On December 7, several sections of the 100+ Forum Russia will be devoted to the implementation of projects using BIM from the point of view of the customer and the contractor. "The main difficulty is the need for organizational changes related to the introduction of innovations. Both sides should reengineer business processes, improve the skills of employees, and build communication at a new level. This is a long and stressful process that is inevitable with the ongoing transformation of the industry," comments Alexey Kushnir, head of the information modeling group at Setl City.
Experts already recognize that the formation and approval of the legislative framework will accelerate the transition of construction companies to the next level: "Using BIM requires investing more time at the beginning of the project, but saves time at subsequent stages. It's the same with using pencil and Adobe Photoshop. Previously, submitting sketches of an object took a huge amount of time. Any changes are a lot of work. New technologies are coming to replace pencil and AutoCAD. The main advantage of BIM is its high accuracy and speed of execution. BIM technologies significantly save costs by reducing the number of employees and project deadlines," emphasized Nadezhda Klyukina, BIM Manager at PI Arena. At the Forum, she will present the company's BIM cases - sports facilities designed for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
