The safety of sports facilities at the 2018 World Cup will be discussed at the 100+ Forum Russia

The topic of world-class sports facilities has become relevant after Russia won the bid to host the 2018 World Cup. Only three of the announced twelve stadiums met FIFA's requirements for sports arenas suitable for hosting World Cup games. The rest had to be reconstructed or rebuilt. Inspecting the progress of the construction of sports facilities and infrastructure for the upcoming championship, the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian FederationIgor Shuvalov noted: "The championship will last for one month, and it will be important to demonstrate what the country has achieved in developing such an infrastructure. But what is more important is what will remain for the city and the guests after the championship. The fact that everyone thinks about the quality of the heritage is very important."

The readiness of stadiums and urban infrastructures for world-class sports competitions will be discussed in Yekaterinburg at the III International forum of high-rise and unique construction 100+ Forum Russia. The organizers managed to assemble a unique team of experts. among them are representatives of developers of sports facilities, as well as specialists involved in the design of facilities. They will share their experience and discuss the most relevant topics, from regulatory documents to the distribution of snow masses on the roof.

Special attention will be paid to all aspects of stadium safety, from geological surveys at the site of the future sports arena to holding mass events there. Vladimir Shelepov, Head of the Asteros Group's Integrated Security Directorate, will address a wide range of similar issues at the forum. "A World Cup-level sporting event is a serious test for the host country, its infrastructure and security system. This is a significant number of guests arriving from different countries, staying in different cities and moving between them. The capabilities of the urban infrastructure should correspond to the status of the event. Technical systems should also be prepared for the event, such as access control (turnstiles and frames), security alarms, television surveillance, detection of sabotage and terrorist means, information collection and processing, and much more," the expert emphasizes.

Moderator of the section "Arenas and stadiums. Unique designs and constructions of entertainment and sports event venues", Editor-in-Chief of Sport Engineering magazine Svetlana Arkhipova believes that the realities of today set the highest standard of requirements, setting ambitious tasks for architects, designers and builders of sports facilities related to constructive and planning solutions.: "The technical requirements for all stadiums are common – capacity, distance to the stands, number of boxes, dozens more criteria, without which the stadium cannot host the World Cup or any other international competition. This complicates the work of architects, but it also becomes a challenge that activates their creative thought. How the stadium goes from the architect's sketch to the red ribbon, what modern technologies it should be filled with, and what needs to be incorporated into the project for its successful operation in legacy mode – these issues will be considered during the section by our respected experts."
