100+ SPEAKERS: Monish Siripuraru
Monish Siripuraru is an Indian architect, founder of Ant Studio, developer of The Beehive's unique cooling system, The Beehive. As part of the United Nations environmental program, the architect proposed a cooling system made of terracotta pipes through which water pours. Upon contact with clay, the water cools down, in turn cooling the air. In fact, this is an analogue of the ancient technology when water was cooled in clay vessels, only here the process is automated and takes place using energy-efficient water pumps and electric fans.
The architect tested the invention at the Deki Electronics factory in India. The mechanism was installed next to the factory diesel generator, and as a result, the local temperature dropped from 50 to 36 degrees Celsius. At the same time, the Beehive consumed 40 percent less energy than other cooling systems and did not use refrigerants.
The speaker will talk about the prospect of converting ancient technologies into modern ones to improve the environmental situation, as well as about UN environmental programs at the 100+ Forum Russia.
