Memorial complex Monument to M.G. Gareev | Molchanov Sculpture Workshop
On December 22, 2024, in the Ilishevsky district of the Republic of Bashkortostan, the grand opening of the monument to the legendary attack aircraft pilot, the only two-time Hero of the Soviet Union in the region, Musa Gaisinovich Gareev (1922-1987), took place. The sculptural composition was created by corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Arts Andrey Petrovich Molchanovsky and his son, Georgy Andreevich Molchanovsky.
To create the four-meter figure, the sculptors used bronze, the lining of the 11-meter stele, the silhouette of which creates a feeling of takeoff, is made of stainless steel, and it is completed by a copper replica of the Il-2 aircraft with a wingspan of 3.6 m, on which Musa Gareev repeatedly fought. The life-size figure was originally created from clay and then cast at a foundry in the Moscow region. The elements of the stele were made in Yaroslavl, and then the parts were transported to the site in Bashkiria, where the installation was carried out.
The landmark event took place on the eve of the celebration of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, to which the residents of the republic made a significant contribution. The event was attended by the head of Bashkortostan Radiy Khabirov, the son of twice Hero of the Soviet Union Evgeny Gareev, the authors of the sculpture, veterans and the public of the region. The monument was erected on a new section of the federal highway M-12 "Vostok" near the village of Ilyakshide, where Musa Gareev was born. The 65-kilometer section was built bypassing five villages of Bashkiria – Isametovo, Verkhnearkeyevo, Layashty, Ishkarovo and Asyanovo. The initiators of the installation were the administration of the Ilishevsky district and the Federal State Institution Updor "Priuralie", the patron of the creation of the architectural object was the General Contractor JSC "Autobahn", the initiative was supported by Radiy Khabirov.
