Memorial to the aviators — Heroes of the Great Patriotic War | Kraft Group LLC

On May 9, 2025, in honor of the 80th anniversary of Victory Day, a memorial was unveiled in the Tyumen region, which commemorates the names of Tyumen aviators who gave their lives for Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

The monumental ensemble was erected at Plekhanovo Airport, which employs more than two thousand employees of the UTair Group of Companies, including Russia's largest helicopter maintenance center.

Andrey Martirosov, General Director of UTair Airlines, noted: "The creation of the Memorial is a tribute to the gratitude of the thousands of UTair Group members to the pilots of the Ob region who fell on the battlefields. This architectural ensemble will become an important symbol of the memory of the exploits of past generations."

The memorial is made of natural granite and symbolizes an airplane aiming at the sky. The high stele in the form of a "fuselage" reaches 7 meters and is crowned with the Order of the Patriotic War. The "wing" of the aircraft, which has a span of more than 13 meters, perpetuates the names of 41 Tyumen aviators: pilots, mechanics, technicians and engineers.

The left part of the "wing" is dedicated to three Heroes of the Soviet Union: Boris Bystykh, Alexander Nikitin and Peter Panov. Although their fates are connected with different military professions, they are inextricably intertwined with aviation.
