Construction of a road bridge crossing over the Nizhny Tagil Pond and related road and engineering infrastructure in Nizhny Tagil | JSC "Uralgiprotrans"
The bridge over the Nizhnetagilsky Pond is one of the most important infrastructure projects in the Sverdlovsk region that have been implemented recently. The need for its construction is due to the need to unload the city's transport arteries and organize direct communication between the city districts located on opposite banks of the city pond.
It was assumed that the new highway would bring bulky vehicles out of the central streets of the city, serve as an impetus for the further development of the territory of Korabelny Cape, improve transport links between Yekaterinburg and Nizhny Tagil, and also become the starting point for the construction of a bypass road around Nizhny Tagil, which would untie one of the busiest transport hubs in the Sverdlovsk region.
The length of the bridge over the city pond is over 434 m, the total length of the projected street (Oktyabrsky Prospekt), including the transport interchange, is more than 5 km. The width of the superstructure on a straight line is 24.8 m, on the OK–1 support it is 25.4 m. Traffic flows on the bridge move along four lanes with the allocation of the outermost lanes for public transport, and sidewalks with a width of 2.25 m are provided for pedestrians and cyclists.
In addition to the bridge over the pond, the project takes into account the construction of two overpasses over the 98.5 and 98.7 m long railway and an 89.2 m long highway overpass as part of a multi-level cloverleaf interchange at the intersection of the right-bank approach with the Southern Access to Nizhny Tagil highway.
This project meets modern requirements of ergonomics, energy efficiency, environmental friendliness, comfort and aesthetics.
Previously, the Uralgiprotrans design team worked out three variants of the bridge's structural schemes, which differ from each other in the material of the superstructures. As a result, the option of a girder bridge with uncut metal spans was chosen for construction as the most technologically advanced in construction, industrial in manufacture (for spans) and laconically fitting into the water area of the city pond. At the same time, it was taken into account that the development of metal bridge construction in Russian infrastructure projects is one of the significant areas for using part of the metal surplus that has formed in the domestic market due to the current situation. Using individual metal structures in this project, the designers of Uralgiprotrans supported the initiative of the President of the Russian Federation to increase the use of metallurgical products in long-term infrastructure projects.
To ensure a short construction time, foundations of supports on bored piles were used as a more technologically advanced type of foundation – at least 100 years old.
The architectural outline of the bridge is largely determined by the type of its supporting structures, which are open and visible from everywhere. To turn this bridge structure into a kind of urban dominant, to emphasize its beauty and expressiveness, metal arches-lamps are installed above the roadway of the bridge, which give the bridge a finished silhouette and provide the necessary level of illumination. In addition, the main structural elements are equipped with controllable full-color light sources, creating dynamic lighting that favorably emphasizes the bend of the bridge, and the reflection of light in the water greatly enhances this effect.
