Laguna SPA Hotel | FANTALIS Architects

Laguna is one of the oldest family recreation centers, which was popular among locals during the Soviet era. Decades later, the infrastructure that had fallen into disrepair made the Lagoon unusable. The renovation project of the architectural firm FANTALIS has brought life back to the Lagoon, turning it into a point of attraction for tourists and locals.

The predecessor of the current Laguna SPA Center, located in the village of Paratunka, was a Soviet recreation center that housed 52 rooms, as well as an aquatic center that was loved by both locals and tourists. Despite the hotel's ideal location for tourism (it is located on the way to volcanoes), Kamchatka is still a seasonal travel destination, so the flow of tourists can greatly increase or decrease in different months.

The authors of the project had an important task — to create a multifunctional complex that, even in unpopular periods, would attract the local population from the neighboring cities of Yelizovo and Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.

The hotel is located in a good location, from where you can easily reach and see the main natural attractions of Kamchatka — tourists come for this, and they spend less time at the hotel. Nevertheless, the project took into account the natural features of the territory, and the panoramic views of the mountain lake and volcano allowed the hotel to create its own places of attraction.

The aquatic center on the territory of the Lagoon has a large outdoor pool with thermal water. It is this facility of the SPA hotel that arouses the greatest interest of tourists and locals. The architects carried out the redevelopment of the complex, built in Soviet times by Icelandic specialists, making it modern and comfortable to use.

To restart the SPA hotel, it was necessary to do a global job: to overhaul the building of the Aquatic Center and two buildings of the Laguna hotels, create a restaurant, place glamping, introduce modern management systems, rebrand the project, and improve the territory.

After the overhaul, the guests of the Aquatic Center began to spend more time there: in addition to the pool, visitors can now use a full-fledged restaurant with a terrace with 100 seats. Work on the Aquatic Center continues, and final changes and repairs will be implemented in the fall.

On the territory of the Lagoon, barbecue areas with canopies are organized, where hotel guests can spend time together, socialize and cook. During the implementation of the project, the coastal area was improved and navigation on the territory of the Lagoon was updated, and the number of parking spaces was increased.
