The Palace of Water Sports Yekaterinburg | Brandiziac

The interiors and navigation system of the Aquatics Palace (DVVS) were developed by the Brandiziac team in preparation for the World Summer Universiade, which was planned to be held in Yekaterinburg in 2023.

The development included the concept of the interior space, design and working documentation. The DVVS in Yekaterinburg is designed for training sessions, sports competitions at Russian and international levels, and the development of mass sports.

When designing interiors for the DVVS, various "clean water conditions" were chosen as the main (and unified) motive for design decisions.

The main space is divided into two main themes. The spaces of the public areas on the ground floor reflect the feeling of being "underwater". While on the second and third floors, the interior uses images "above the water". The concept is interpreted in different ways in different rooms and zones, through different materials and technologies, developing a common water theme and forming a single image of the object.

The idea is reflected in the soft plastic shapes of the framing of the vertical communications area of the atrium space, the color scheme, and the dynamic structure of ceiling solutions in combination with lighting fixtures that define various scenarios and accentuate functional areas.

Each plastic form and each material used are endowed with their own characteristics, their condition dictated by the optical properties that occur when water comes into contact with the environment. Reflections, surface treatment features of the material and textures help to reveal the overall image.

The entire ground floor space is an image "inside the water". It is here that all the pools and the athletes' area are located, and it is at this level that history takes place.

VIP lodges convey the beauty and uniqueness of deep waters. After all, only a select few manage to see it firsthand.

The interior decoration reflects the metaphor of water ripples. It appears on the surface of the water with any movement, whether it is a breeze or the movement of fingers on the surface.

Drops falling on the surface of the water inspired the creation of interior design in the cafe, as well as navigation elements.
