The project is based on a fairly complex layout, resulting from the combination of two apartments. We had several tasks in front of us: to think over a spacious living room area combined with a kitchen, a functional nursery area for two girls, and most importantly, to allocate a guest area in case relatives arrive. At the same time, the functionality of all zones should have been complete, but not obvious.
The kitchen became the heart of the project. The island of porcelain stoneware and mirrors with broken edges plays a key role, deconstructivism plays in contrast with the overall minimalist mood of the project. Reflections in mirrors vary depending on the viewing point, a kind of play of volumes and refractions of light.
From the living room side, the island looks like a geometric art object, while from the reverse side the island has a full-fledged storage system. A glass dining table cuts into the island, and a mirrored polygonal volume above it, playing the role of a lamp, completes the composition.
Machinery is hidden in the white columns, while 2 sections can be opened for functional use.: there is a work surface, spacious drawers and shelves for glasses. At the same time, when closed, the facades look like wall panels extending to the wall behind the island and into the hallway, which made it possible to visually combine the zones.
It is worth noting the work with materials and color. We love monochrome interiors, their mood changes depending on the lighting and weather. White walls, grey floors, tinted concrete left in the living room area as a key finishing point, mirrors that break and expand the volume.
There's a TV hidden behind the black glass in the living room. In fact, all the key solutions in the apartment play two roles at once: functional and aesthetic.
It was especially difficult to work out the guest room, for which there was not enough space.
We didn't want to cut down on the living room area, so we thought of a transformer room. In ordinary life, this is a relaxation area with a cozy armchair and beautiful decor, located on a podium and visually forming part of the living room, but when necessary, a bed reclines from a walnut-paneled wall, and hidden sliding doors fully transform this unit into a guest room.
2 children's rooms are planned adjacent, while the girls are small, I did not want to deprive them of joint games, isolating the rooms. At the same time, if desired, the partition between the rooms can be closed, because each of the children's rooms has its own independent entrance from the hall.
In children's bedrooms and bathrooms, we often use color, but very delicately, so that the interior does not cease to be relevant as the children grow up. In the bathroom for girls, we used a delicate peach color, in tandem with the rounded shapes of the plumbing, it looks very organic.
In the main bathroom, a floating bathtub became a feature, as if embedded in a gray stone. The monochrome bathroom solution is a logical continuation of the overall color concept of the project.
The bedroom is designed in gray monochrome, there is also concrete on the ceiling, and smooth matte MDF panels play with it in contrast. A dressing room is hidden behind the bed, thus it was possible to realize all the necessary functional areas.
