Sealer Hydrocord™ "Seismo" for sealing penetrations of pipe communications with significant movements of communications in various directions relative to the axis of communication

This device is designed to seal communication passages (pipes, cables) through various openings made in various building structures of buildings and structures (walls, partitions, floors, coatings, load-bearing and enclosing structures of structures) in order to protect against the penetration of water and moisture, as well as to prevent the migration of gases through the enclosing structure.

Having an intermediate membrane of a special shape, such a device allows the pipe (communication) to move relative to the wall (enclosing structure), moreover, in different directions, and the amount of movement can be set for certain tasks, for example, with the predicted precipitation of buildings (the amount of transverse displacement of the pipe), or temperature movements (the amount of longitudinal displacement of the pipe), as well as their combinations.

This design allows this solution to be used in projects with increased seismic activity, with a large projected building draft, in conditions of subsidence, the use of pumping equipment near the sinking node, which causes strong vibration, or in other other cases where the mobility of this node is necessary.

In general, the use of the sealer Hydrocord "Seismo" provides the following advantages::

  1. Shorter construction time, due to the speed of installation and the independence of the system from the application temperature, such as for sealants, i.e. it can be used in winter conditions.;
  2. Improving the quality of construction in the field of external and internal networks;
  3. Increased safety and leak protection for high-value projects;
  4. The economic effect is achieved at the operational stage by increasing the reliability of the node. There is no need to carry out routine repairs, only inspection control at the operational stage.;
  5. It has a quality certificate indicating the parameter of the water pressure to withstand in MPa/Bar;
  6. Instrumental quality control — the tightening torque is controlled using a torque wrench;
  7. The ability to design the device for the necessary movements;
  8. It allows the pipe to move in different directions relative to the wall (enclosing structure), for example, when buildings are drained in the transverse direction, and when the temperature of the pipe moves in the longitudinal direction, as well as bending when the pipe is shifted, for example, during backfilling;
  9. Corresponds to JV 14.13330.2018 "Construction in seismic areas";
  10. It is not a rigid sealing of the pipe.

Structurally, the Seismo Hydrocord sealer consists of paired stainless steel compression plates that compress a rubber core. It, in turn, seals the connection to the pipe and the hole. And the intermediate membrane, which is connected to a rubber core, senses the movement of the pipe relative to a wall or other enclosing structure. Moreover, the special shape of the membrane allows the pipe to move both laterally and longitudinally.

At the moment, there are not many well-known technologies for sealing pipe penetrations in seismic conditions, and most projects are carried out using oil seals in series that have been known since Soviet times. It is also worth noting that, by delving into modern regulatory documentation on construction in seismic areas and the construction of outdoor and indoor networks, it is possible to identify some gaps and contradictions in the narrow field of pipe penetrations. Since, for lack of alternatives, the joint venture refers to and recommends the use of stuffing boxes or pressure seals for these purposes, it is necessary to observe the gaps between the pipe and the hole of 0.2 m and this space must be filled with elastic sealing material and "rigid sealing of pipes is not allowed", although if you study the design of the stuffing box, you can see that they are designed in such a way that the gaps between the pipe and the hole do not exceed, as a rule, 30 mm and special stiffeners prevent the pipe from moving, which creates a rigid seal, and using oil seals of a larger diameter, for example DN 500 for pipes of 100 mm, the space cannot be filled with standard methods, and here the question arises about the reliability of traditional methods. To solve this issue, the sealer Hydrocord™ of the UKP "Seismo" was developed.

But time does not stand still, construction has moved forward and these solutions no longer always cover the needs that are needed, namely: an understandable indicator of water resistance, component quality, durability of the solution and instrumentally measurable quality control.

They began to build on a much larger scale, the development of underground space has become more relevant than ever in large cities, and industrial construction has begun to develop in areas with increased seismic activity (Baikal, Amur, the Far East, the Caucasus). And new solutions are needed for modern construction, and the use of Hydrocord™ UKP O-rings meets these requirements, and the Hydrocord™ UKP Seismic movable sealer will be an excellent alternative to oil seals and other solutions.
