RBI Group Office | Architects of ABD LLC

RBI Group is a development company that has been operating on the market since 1993 and has a reputation as "the most St. Petersburg developer." The company works a lot in the historical center, cooperates with leading architects, and is actively engaged in the reconstruction of city monuments and historical buildings. One of these revived cultural heritage sites was the reconstructed Levashovsky bakery. Taking into account the specifics of the building and its landmark status for Leningrad-Petersburg, the company initially wanted to create a cultural and business space in it since acquiring the building in 2016. During the preparation of the project, the idea was born and adopted to give the business part of this space to the new head office of the RBI.

The bakery building is a cultural heritage site, which imposes many restrictions. The restrictions applied to all stairs where the Metlakh tiles were preserved and restored. All supporting structures have been preserved. In particular, radial ceiling beams have been preserved, which are almost everywhere high, so there is often very little space under them, up to 2 meters from the bottom of the beam to the floor level. This had to be taken into account in the development of the ERP and the design of the premises.

The shape of the building itself dictated the spatial planning solution - all floors are a ring of office space with an enclosed core of auxiliary rooms. The entire volume of the building of the former bakery boiler house (18 m in diameter, 16 m in height) is also guarded and could not be divided into levels by new floors. As a result, a multifunctional hall "Creative Boiler room" was organized here.

The design idea was based on the desire to emphasize the historical architecture of the building. Therefore, the architects, together with the customer, decided to preserve the overall appearance of the production facilities and convey the aesthetics of the 30s of the XX century, the era in which they were created.
